|Contact a Family have launched their biggest enquiry into school transport for disabled children, and they want to hear from you.
What's the school transport issue?
School transport is an integral part of a child's education. If a child can't get to school or has a stressful experience getting to school, they are not able to learn and take part in the school day like other children.
Contact a Family hear from too many families whose child is eligible for school transport, but has been refused. They also hear from others whose child has been offered unsuitable transport, such as a disabled child who needs close supervision when out in public offered a bus pass to get public transport to school. School transport remains one of the top issues parents are calling their helpline about.
School transport is an issue that varies across the country, so Contact a Family want to build a clearer picture of the problems facing families with disabled children.
What do they want to achieve?
They want to show decision makers what they can do to ensure no disabled child misses out on adequate school transport.
This means understanding what the problems are, and most importantly identifying the solutions, and that's why they have launched this inquiry.
Who do they want to hear from?
UK families, transport providers and commissioners - They want to hear from you.
They want to hear experiences - positive and negative - across all the age ranges, from early years to post-16.
