Special Needs and Disabilities Information Day- don't miss out!

We are really excited for our upcoming Special Needs and Disabilities Information Day. The event is being organised by West Berkshire Parent Carer Forum, in partnership with West Berkshire Council and will take place on Wednesday 1st February. Get Involved! Young People's Co Production in West Berkshire

We are delighted to say that since January this year, young people with additional needs/disabilities age 16-25 in West Berkshire have been involved with the following:


  • Interviewed and designed the Young People Worker profile
  • Approved the look and feel of the Young People Worker business card
  • Created content for 8 pages of the Young People SENDIASS web pages
  • Written and designed the Young People leaflet
  • Scripted, edited and produced a video Promoting the Youth Forum


This is a wonderful achievement, and we are all grateful for the invaluable input young people have had so far.


It isn't too late to get involved! We are working hard to establish a Young People's Forum in West Berkshire, providing a platform that enables Young People to have their say and share their views. To find out more about getting involved, click here.

The Castle School Leaflet Project 8th March 2016

7 students from The Castle Special School responded to a call for help from the Hampshire Support4send team to give feedback on their tri-fold leaflet created for young people with SEND. Students worked in two team to make comments about the leaflet and suggestions to enhance it. The opportunity to comment was part of a project to encourage young people with SEND to feel confident about the importance of expressing their views and opinion

Brookfields School Project 7th March 2016

7 students from the Post 16 at Brookfields School celebrated their involvement in a project which led to them interviewing and writing the profile of the WB SENDIASS young people’s worker Lesley Reilly.


The students were presented with Certificates and have already started making comments about the ‘look and feel’ of West Berkshire Young People’s website pages – watch this space!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WB SENDIASS really does help young people to get the best help and support and listens to the views of young people

Young People's Web Pages... Coming Soon!

Groups of young people with special needs and disabilities in West Berkshire are working together to co - produce young people's web pages for the West Berks SENDIASS website.


Lesley Reilly the Young People's Information, Advice & Support Officer is coordinating this exciting project.


Everyone involved so far is committed to co-production. This is a way of working , whereby everyone works together on an equal basis. At the moment we are working together to agree the 'look and feel' of the web pages and to find out what sort of information young people think should be on there.

Merry Christmas from the SENDIASS Team

As we head for the festive period at speed, we at West Berks SENDIASS would like to wish you all a calm and restful Christmas.


During this time our office will be closed from 4pm on Tuesday 22nd December amd reopen on Monday 4th January. We will respond to any messages week commencing the 4th.


Lesley and I look forward to working with and supporting you in 2016, hoping to make life a little easier.
